The Continental Automotive plant in Brandýs nad Labem is a global supplier of automotive electronics for cars of many global brands. It manufactures car radios, multimedia systems and displays, on-board devices, air conditioning control panels, telematics, eCall systems and also fuel system control units.
As the general designer, our company developed the complete project documentation, incl. engineering activities for a new two-story building in the production hall of the BDY II plant, as well as for the introduction and installation of the most advanced AutoStore storage system. The entire project also included the documentation for the construction of a walkable suspended ceiling for the operation of SMT lines with the aim of improving the parameters of the production environment.
As a general contractor, we subsequently built a two-story extension in the production hall with cleanrooms of cleanliness class ISO 8 (according to ISO 14644–1), and the clean laboratory rooms of cleanliness class ISO 7 (according to ISO 14644–1) were created on the 2nd floor for the electron microscope and laboratories for product testing. The total area of the new cleanrooms is 2200 m2. Three Kardexes were also installed in the cleanrooms.
In addition, the office spaces, changing rooms and all technical facilities (HVAC machine rooms, cooling, boiler room, vacuum station, etc.) were built. For the operation of the laboratories, a new elevator was added to the facade of the hall. In the adjacent production hall of the SMT lines, a walkable suspended ceiling with a total area of 900 m2 was installed, incl. the energy and distributions.
In parallel with the construction of complete cleanrooms, laboratories and technical facilities, we solved the investor's request for the preparation of space for the installation of the unique AutoStore storage technology. As part of its technological evolution, Continental in Brandýs decided to switch to this efficient storage system as the first company in the Czech Republic.
Our company designed and implemented the technical solution for the installation of the AutoStore storage system, the specialty of which is that it is placed on the so-called mezzanine, i.e. a steel structure on pillars, which made it possible to use the operating space under the AutoStore as a cleanroom for wrapping material and its preparation.
The implementation of all construction works took place without interrupting the surrounding production processes in the production hall.
